Preserving A Way of Life
Pastor Jeanne Miller
When our country attacked
Iraq this Spring some people were glad it had finally come (our military
who were waiting), some immediately went into fear (Hollywood) and some
stood on the word of God and prayed for our President to have wisdom and
to follow God’s will for our country. It wasn’t long before we all
knew what kind of a country we were dealing with in Iraq. Much has
come out as to Saddam Hussein’s and his sons’ cruelty and demonic activity
over the span of 20 years. We saw what remained of hundreds of thousands
of innocent people tortured, killed and thrown into mass graves.
We heard of a lifestyle of opulence for those in power while most Iraqi
citizens were living on the poverty level. And just what is Saddam
Hussein all about? There are probably many answers to this question
but for our purpose we see someone who is mightily used of Satan.
It brings to mind what we have heard about Hitler during World War II.
And one similarity we know for sure is both of them carry a hatred of Jews.
Some say will the conflict
in the Mideast ever end? My own opinion is that it will not until
Jesus comes once again to this earth. He is the only one who has
the power to bring it to an end. Every time our world leaders think
that they have a solution, their plan quickly falls apart when they try
to apply it. This is scriptural if you read through the prophets
of the Old Testament. Yet I believe that what they are doing is ordained
of God. You may say that doesn’t make sense, but certain events have
to take place before the Lord comes back. As current events play
out, we can see the day coming closer and closer. As a Christian
country, the USA has a part to play in it and as Christians we have a part
to pray it in.
Satan is on his last
leg and he knows it, but you won’t see him quitting. The Islamic
religion is being used as a satanic tool to breed people who hate Christians
and Jews. They have been taught that they will have no honor if they
do not declare Jihad against Jews and Christians. I realize that
there are those Muslims who do not believe this way and would never condone
what is going on. However, they must realize that all those
who practice Islam are not the same, just as all Christians are not the
same. Some have set out to destroy God’s plan on the earth and we
know where they will end up. Terrorism is not of the Lord and as
a nation, we must come against it.
We have dedicated military
personnel who, this Fourth of July, are laying down their lives for what
our country believes in. Most of them are proud to be serving their
country and truly believe in what they are doing. We need to give
them aid and support each and every day. Our part is to lift them
up daily before the Lord and surround them with angels to protect them
in all that they are involved in. We must pray that those who work
out the strategies of this war will stay in the will of God. We should
ask that all traps and terrorist plots be revealed to our men in the field.
We live in a free country.
It’s true that not every country will be free no matter what we do as a
nation. It’s also true that if we don’t do what we have been called
upon to do, we could find ourselves fighting on our soil for our freedom.
One thing about freedom is that it is never free. Some will have
to give their lives in order for the rest of us to enjoy this freedom.
This is a hard fact to acknowledge, but it is the truth nonetheless.
Pastor Bob and our son, Justin, have both served in the military and at
the present time I have a godson who has enlisted and is getting ready
to leave. You may say, he’s crazy and why would he do this?
After having talked to him, I know he truly believes in what he is doing.
Simply put, good men are needed in our military. He will go in as
an officer and will serve his country with honor and integrity. I
will be lifting him up daily as he does what he believes is God’s will
for his life.
As Christians let’s
make a determined effort this Fourth of July to do all we can to see that
our country continues on God’s path. We need to bring our words in
line with victory and not defeat. Let’s not fall into the enemy’s
trap of being critical and judgmental of our leaders but rather pray for
them every day. We should pray that the church will take her place
in prayer for this is what will ultimately bring about God’s will on this
earth. If this country will stay on God’s path for it, we will ultimately
preserve our way of life.
