August is a unique month because it is a major transitional month. It marks the end of summer and the beginning of fall plans. It is the last chance for many families to have a whole week or two of vacation. Professional football pre-season starts. School supplies are being sold in the stores. Extracurricular school activities, like sports, are practicing now. Many schools will even start in the month of August.
All this activity speaks to me about having a vision for our lives. If you don’t have any plans than I want to encourage you to get a vision for your life. Where are you going in life? If you already have visions for yourself, family and friends than stay your course.
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
This Scripture tells me that I have to have some kind of thoughts in my mind before God can do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. We are only limited by what we can imagine. People have proven over and over that if you keep dreaming than you can accomplish anything. The invention of cell phones was a dream that science fiction communication devices fueled. Thomas Edison dreamed of incandescent light bulbs and now we have LED light bulbs. The same is true with any advancements in the modern world. They started as a dream, which someone didn’t give up on.
The question again is “what dream/vision do you have?” “Do you have any goals in your heart?” “Do you know what your God-given dreams are?”
Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)
9 A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.
Psalm 139:16
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
God has a perfect prewritten plan for your life but it is up to you to seek Him about those directions for your life. They won’t just happen because God wills them to happen. He requires us to get them and follow them with all our hearts. We can get God’s best plans for our lives through the inspired words of the Bible and the Holy Spirit’s witness in our hearts. He is waiting for you now. We need to dream the big dreams that are in our hearts and trust God’s grace to do them.
