Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Have you ever noticed that it is easy to “trust in the Lord” when everything is going well? The true test of our faith, our trust, our belief, comes when life is hard and difficult. Then faith can become difficult, as your circumstances look bad, you are hurting, and you see no relief in sight. Don’t let those circumstances and the fear they could bring cause your faith to falter!

In hard times your trust in the Lord is vital. It will be the difference between seeing His Word come to pass in your life or succumbing to your circumstances. His Word is truth! If you are born again, His power is working in you. You have a covenant with Him as His child through the blood of Jesus. He is a good Father. Lean into that Word and trust Him even when things appear to be impossible. Don’t depend on your understanding—confess His Word instead.

There were many times when I watched my parents stand on God’s Word for provision and vindication trusting Him to come through for them. And He always did! Sometimes within the last 24 hours! I admit I am a planner, and those circumstances might have sparked fear in me even today. Not my parents–they never wavered at the promise of God. Whatever they were thinking, they always appeared to be resolute, to know exactly what to do, and to not be moved.

How could they be so certain? They had sought God’s will and believed they were on the right path, doing what He wanted to be done. They trusted with all their hearts and received their promises.

Walking in faith does not mean we will live comfortably with no difficulties, but if we will trust the Lord and walk in His will, He will come through for us and we will walk in victory the paths that He has laid out for our lives and all will be well.

Trust the Lord and His Spirit who lives in you and shut fear out of your mouth and out of your thought life. God is able to move powerfully for us when we operate in faith and love.

I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25
